Vigdis Eriksen is founder and CEO of Eriksen Translations Inc., a leading provider of multilingual services in over 100 languages. Headquartered in Brooklyn, New York, Eriksen helps companies reach their audiences in the domestic and global marketplace, offering translation, interpreting, layout and production, web and software localization, cultural consulting, and voiceover and subtitling services to clients worldwide.
A native of Norway, Vigdis has over thirty years of experience in the translation industry and speaks English, French, and Dutch along with her mother tongue Norwegian. In her early years as a freelancer, she identified the need for a translation company specializing in the Scandinavian languages and founded Eriksen Translations in 1986. With the 1994 acquisition of AdEx Translations International, Eriksen expanded its language combinations and grew to employ twenty-five people and thousands of freelance translators around the world. Vigdis is an active member of the Women Presidents' Organization (WPO), the Inc. Business Owners Council, and the American Translators Association. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Norwegian-American Chamber of Commerce, and is a founding board member and co-chair of Red T, a non-profit organization dedicated to the protection of translators and interpreters worldwide. Vigdis will be recognized as a 2014 International Women's Entrepreneurial Challenge (IWEC) award winner at the 2014 IWEC conference in Stockholm, Sweden. |
